DIY Beadable Column Bead with Twist Off Bezel

One of our newest products and one of So’s favorites are the new Beadable Accessories: Column Bead with Twist Off Bezel. Use size 11/0 Delica seed beads to create a tubular design and encase it around the bezel area of the column bead. Plus, the bead has a twist off side that you can easily create your tube and slide it on the bezel and twist sides back on.

Even Peyote Count Stitch

For the column beads, you will be creating a tubular design with an Even Count Peyote Stitch. Below is an example how to stitch an Even Count Peyote design:

To use the 10mm column bead, you can get them in Gold plated (Z001434) and Rhodium plated (Z001430). Use an Even Count Peyote Stitch starting with 6 Delica seed beads. Then you will be making 30 rows and then wrap pattern into a tube shape by stitching and zip up the sides. (Check out our previous blog on how we made a tubular design and zipping up the sides HERE.)

Plus, we have a Pattern Template for the SHORT Column bead that you can create your own designs with! DOWNLOAD TEMPLATE HERE.

As a side note, you can create a wider tube starting with 7 seed beads if your design needs an odd count stitch.

Tassel Earrings with TierraCast® Findings and Miyuki Seed Beads

Our tutorial today features some trendy tassel earrings made with seed beads. You may recall our previous blog post on Beaded Tassel Tutorial. Today’s project will use that tutorial along with multiple colors of seed beads and beautiful TierraCast pieces.

What you’ll need:

  • Size 11/0 seed beads. We used 3 different colors in our sample:
    • SB00423, which will pair with the gold TierraCast finding. You can also use SB00422 and silver TierraCast finding.
    • Cream color: SB00444
    • Color seed bead: SB00447 You can also swap this color!

Directions (Refer to Beaded Tassel Tutorial for example visuals):

  1. Make a wrapped loop to a 3 inch piece of wire. OR if you’re using an eyepin, coil the eyepin loop.
  2. Starting with 4 feet of thread, create a stopper bead on your thread leaving a 4-6 inch tail.
  3. Sew through the wire loop.
  4. Pick up the following bead sequence
    1. 20 cream seed bead
    2. Wine bead, cream bead, 2 wine bead, cream bead, 3 wine bead, cream bead
    3. 10 wine bead
    4. gold bead, wine bead, 2 gold bead, wine bead, 3 gold bead, wine bead
    5. 8 gold bead.
  5. Skip the last bead and sew back up through all the beads you’ve sewn and through wire loop. Don’t pull to hard, you want your fringe to hang loose.
  6. Repeat step 4 and 5 another 7 more times for a total of 8 tassel fringes.
  7. Tie thread ends together, securing it with a small dot of Super New Glue.
  8. Slide wire through cone and pick up 4mm round bead (pearl) and cream seed bead. Make a simple or wrapped loop.
  9. Open earwire and add tassel dangle.
  10. Repeat all steps for other earring.

Chevron Spike Bracelet

This bracelet used stretch cord, which makes it to easy make and wear. It also uses some blingy Swarovski Hexagon, two-hole spike crystal beads, which breaks up the chevrons and adds a focal section!

DIY Spike Drop Earrings

We’re showing you how easy bead-stitching can be with these Spike Drop Earrings. It uses two-hole Swarovski® spike crystal beads, Cymbal components, seed beads and TierraCast® Hammertone Dagger Bead.

What you’ll need for earrings:

Directions: (Similar to Honeycomb Tassel Drop Earrings Tutorial)

  1. With 2 feet of thread, pick up a seed bead, cymbal, seed bead, 1st spike bead, seed bead, 2nd spike bead, seed bead, 3rd spike bead, seed bead, dagger bead, seed bead. (Make sure to be sewing through the correct hole of spike beads)
  2. Sew up through the second hole of the 3rd spike bead, pick up a seed bead, through the second hole of the 2nd spike bead, pick up a seed bead and through the second hole of the 1st spike bead.
  3. Tie both ends together to bring your looped pattern together. (You can see something similar to the Honeycomb Tassel Drop PDF tutorial, as you’re substituting a few beads in the pattern.)
  4. Sew through a few beads before cutting thread ends off.
  5. Open earwire loop and slide on cymbal component. Close loop.
  6. Repeat all steps for other earring.




Swarovski® Spike Cuff

We’re combining two of our favorites in today’s project: Swarovski crystals and beadable accessories. This punk-style jewelry will be your favorite for an edgy look!

What you’ll need:

Directions:

  1. Add a stopper bead to 3 feet of beading thread.
  2. You will be sewing a ladder stitch to complete your cuff. Sew up through first hole on the bottom left. Pick up a spike bead and sew down the hole across the channel from the hole you first sewn up from.
  3. Along the top, skip a hole and sew up through the next hole. Sew through the second hole of the spike bead and down the hole across the channel.
  4. Skip a hole and sew up through the next one. Pick up a spike bead and sew down the hole across the channel from that hole you’ve sewn up from.
  5. Skip a hole and sew up through the next one, sew through the second hole of the spike bead and down the hole, across the channel.
  6. Repeat this sequence until you’ve added 6 beads.
  7. Sew through the runs of beads again to secure the crystals in place.

Peyote Tube with Beadalon Instant Pendants

Beadalon instant pendants are easy to use! You simply unscrew the bottom cap and slide your beads one the mandrel and screw back on your cap. Another way to vamp up your instant pendant design is with a peyote stitched tube. Here is a simple even count peyote tube you can add to these nifty instant pendants.

Peyote Tube Pendant

Make multiple tubes with fun designs using Miyuki Delica beads. Plus, the Instant Pendants makes it easy to slide on each tube or even swap them out for a versatile design option!

Directions

  1. Start with 4 feet of beading thread.
  2. Make a stopper bead at the end of your beading thread, leaving a 4-5 inch tail. (I like using a different color Delica to differentiate the beads.)

  3. Sew on 28 delica beads.
  4. Pick up a delica bead and sew back through the second to last delica, going the opposite way. Pick up another delica bead, skip a bead and sew through the next delica bead. Repeat going all the way back towards to stopper
  5. Once you’ve sewn through the first delica bead, you’ve finished your second row of your peyote stitch pattern. Pick up another delica bead and sew back the other way skipping the first bead and sewing through the second. Repeat again down the row.
  6. Repeat your peyote stitch going back and forth until you’ve added 12 rows.
  7. Wrap the sides together to create a tube and peyote stitch the first row to zip up the peyote tube. Gently pull your thread tight to even out thread and loop through a few beads and cut off excess thread. Pull off stopper bead and sew thread end through a few beads and cut off excess.
  8. Repeat all steps to make another tube. Add tube to instant pendant and attach pendants to earwires for easy DIY earrings!

Beadable Holiday Wreath Earring with Tutorial

Who doesn’t LOVE a fun pair of festive, holiday wreath earrings? This pair is designed using our Beadable Ring Pendant (Z011336) and 11/0 Delica Seed Beads. Design with classic red and green colors or mix it up!

What you’ll need:

Directions:

  1. Using a 3 feet piece of beading thread, add a stopper bead to the end of your beading thread, leaving 4-5 inch tail. (To add a stopper bead, pick up a bead and slide towards to end of your thread end, leaving 4-5 inch tail. Sew through the bead, looping two times through the seed bead.)

  2. Sew through an outer hole of your beadable pendant.
  3. Pick up 7 beads (do variation of reds and green, using more green than reds).
  4. Sew down the hole across the channel. (The beads wont be sitting in the channel.)
  5. Sew up through the next hole and repeat steps 3 and 4.
  6. You will repeat this process, zigzagging through the pendant until you have gone all the way around.
  7. While on the backside of your pendant, sew up the next hole and through the first seed bead. Pick up 4 seed beads, sew across the channel, down the last delica bead and through the hole.
  8. Repeat step 7 as you sew back through the beadable pendant again.
  9. Once you’ve finished, tie off your thread ends and cut off excess.
  10. Open your earring loop and slide your beadable wreath on.
  11. Repeat all steps for other earring.



Czech Star with FREE Illustrated Pattern

For all our bead-stitching friends and for those that are new to bead stitching, here is a simple star pattern using one of  So Vang’s favorite bead, Czech Super Duos. She is offering this FREE pattern on making these stars! Imagine adding a simple jump ring and making cute earrings or linking them up to make a fabulous necklace or bracelet.

We’re continuing our love for Cymbal components with these FANCY Stripe Earrings made with the Cymbal Kolympos bead ending. Check out this FREE pattern from our designer, So Vang.

If you haven’t yet seen the Cymbal components that just came out a few month ago, you’re missing out on some great components and findings for your bead stitching patterns. Here is a simple pair of earrings you can make using the Cymbal Kolympos bead ending.

Though this pattern was intended and can be used for a bracelet pattern, we’ve shorten the pattern to make some statement earrings instead!
