One of our newest products and one of So’s favorites are the new Beadable Accessories: Column Bead with Twist Off Bezel. Use size 11/0 Delica seed beads to create a tubular design and encase it around the bezel area of the column bead. Plus, the bead has a twist off side that you can easily create your tube and slide it on the bezel and twist sides back on.

Make a cute and colorful necklace with one two or three column beads!

Even Peyote Count Stitch
For the column beads, you will be creating a tubular design with an Even Count Peyote Stitch. Below is an example how to stitch an Even Count Peyote design:

Beadable 10mm Column Bead & Pattern Template

To use the 10mm column bead, you can get them in Gold plated (Z001434) and Rhodium plated (Z001430). Use an Even Count Peyote Stitch starting with 6 Delica seed beads. Then you will be making 30 rows and then wrap pattern into a tube shape by stitching and zip up the sides. (Check out our previous blog on how we made a tubular design and zipping up the sides HERE.)
As a side note, you can create a wider tube starting with 7 seed beads if your design needs an odd count stitch.
Beadable 18mm Column Bead & Pattern Template

To use the 18mm column bead, you can get them in Gold Plated (Z001456) and Rhodium Plated (Z001453). Use an Even Count Peyote Stitch starting with 12 Delica seed beads. Then you will be making 30 rows and then wrap pattern into a tube shape by stitching and zip up the sides.

I love this idea…quite unique! Thank you.
I really want to start beading but I want to do something I or someone else will wear not a dust catcher. Where can I start?
Definitely roam through the blog and find something you want to try. If you are starting out, make some easy Memory Wire bracelets are a great starter to beading or making DIY jewelry. Let us know if you have found something you’re interested and we can certainly help too.
I am stuck on how to move forward on my goal vine necklace and need a video tutorial. Is there one available?
We did a Facebook LIVE video doing the Flora Vine HERE. Let us know if you have any particular questions.
What a cute idea! Easy enough for beginner Peyote Stitchers like me. Thank you!
You’re welcome!
I’m absolutely obsessed with making the 18 mm column beads. I’ve only ever done wire wrapping, but this is a good gateway into bead stitching.
That’s great Stacy. It’s definitely a fun starter to bead stitching, plus not as intimidating as one may think. We would LOVE to see your work. Tag us on social media like Facebook or Instagram with @GoodyBeads so that we can see your creations!
Besides a necklace, how else do you use these beaded coumns?
Use them as earrings with a headpin and bead aligners. String them on leather cord for a bracelet. There’s a bunch of possibilities.
I’m putting a green Christmas tree and a couple of red wreaths on mine for Christmas gifts–just as soon as I get the peyote stitch down. They’re small–they don’t take long.
We did do a Facebook LIVE on peyote stitching a tube for these beadables. So Vang did get cut half way because her phone battery died. LOL, small mishap. Once you learn how to peyote stitch, it’s really fun and open a whole new skill and technique!

would a 2mm leather cord fit through the hole. Could a larger say 5mm cord also?
Yes the 2mm leather cord will fit the hole. I don’t have a 5mm round cord with me right now, but I was able to slide two 2mm cords through it easily, so possibly a 4mm round cord will work too.
I’d like to make pendants from these. What would you recommend so that I can hang one vertically. Thanks!
You can use headpins and use some bead aligners. Here are some suggestions: TC00980 or TC02829
You’ll need two bead aligners to sandwich on top and bottom because the hole on the column beads are large.
