New from the 2019 Tucson show are these lovely Czech Ginko beads from BeadSmith. Check out today’s free tutorial using Ginko beads.
Czech Ginko beads are a two-hole bead in the shape of Ginkgo leaves.
Scale Bracelet
This bracelet tutorial was inspired by Nela Kábelová’s (www.gianelle.beadforum.cz) pattern called Snake Skin Bracelet. We used her pattern and tweaked it slightly to add 4mm Swarovski® bicone crystals instead of 4mm round beads. And used 8/0 Miyuki seed beads in place of the seed beads she used. Don’t they look like fish scales? Dragon scales? Mermaid scales? They are a beautiful shape with lots of option for bead stitching.
What you’ll need for this bracelet:
- Ginko two-hole beads
- 8/0 Miyuki Seed Beads
- (36) 4mm Swarovski bicone crystals
- 5mm jump ring
- Clasp
- Fireline Beading Thread
- Needle

I may have missed seeing it but I don’t know how many grams or beads are needed for the kinko scale bracelet? Can you please tell me. Thanks
Yes, you’ll need at least 60 Ginko beads. If you order a full tube of Ginko beads, there is enough to make a full bracelet.
Thank you for the lovely free pattern.
Thank you.
I have purchased the materials needed for the Ginko Beads Bracelet and have received them. I am unable to print the instructions, however. My purchase is useless w/o the instructions. Please advise.
Thank you,
Lee Willits
I would suggest going to the link and printing the instructions from there. You can simple go to File and Print. There will also be a Printer Icon on the top right hand corner of the page. Depending on your browser, this placement may be different.
If you downloaded the pdf file, you can open it and print it. If you don’t have a program to open your pdf files, you can drag the files to your internet browser, it should open in the browser and you can print it from there.
Let us know if you are still unable to print the instructions. Thank you.
I love the addition of the Swarovski. It really ups the ante!
BTW I noticed many of the Slipperit beads in the photos have marks, scratches etc. Is this common with this colourway or were they ‘used’ beads?
Many of these beads are coated, so during the process, there may be some variation in the coating.
Made this bracelet up in this same color ginko but used a capri ab Swarovski crystal on the edge and it turned out GORGEOUS! Thank you for the fun and easy tutorial.
you’re welcome!
I am unable to follow your picture directions for this Ginko 2-hole bracelet. Please help!!
Where in the tutorial illustration are you having questions about?
Thanks so much! Very straightforward pattern with a lovely result!
